Mashpee, MA (August 11, 2014) – Mashpee Commons’ year-round special events aim to provide the community and visitors with an enjoyable, free, and memorable experience. This August, the Commons has a full plate of fun events planned including our last Summer Block Party of the season on Saturday, August 23rd; weekly free outdoor movie nights and Arts Foundation of Cape Cod concerts every Thursday; and the weekly Farmers’ Market on Sundays, coordinated by Nicole Cormier of Delicious Living Nutrition. Details on each of the events can be found below. Please be in touch if you have any questions or would like any additional information.

Mashpee Commons’ August Block Party will take place on Saturday, August 23th from 12-6pm. Family friendly activities will be located throughout the Commons during the event. Entertainment will include live music, food vendors, and several activities for kids, including a bouncy house, face painting, balloon twisting, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and more! The live music line-up includes The Ticks, Andrew Duhon, and The Parkington Sisters. The music will take place on Mashpee Commons’ new platform stage near Ghelfi’s Candies & Ice Cream. All activities will be free and open to the public. Additionally, there will be a sidewalk sale taking place throughout the Commons during the event.

Mashpee Commons’ Free Outdoor Movie Series continues weekly on Thursday evenings at dusk throughout August. The event is free and open to the public. There are several great spots to pick up movie snacks at the Commons beforehand, including Cupcake Charlie’s, Ghelfi’s Candies and Ice Cream of Cape Cod, Just Desserts, Sweet Waves Self Serve Frozen Yogurt, and the new Organic Market, which has lots of delicious prepared food options. The movies are projected onto a 21 foot inflatable screen at the end of Market Street, in front of the new Organic Market and Verde Floral Design. The August Movie line-up includes Ghostbusters on August 14th, Step Brothers on August 21st, and The Breakfast Club on August 28th.

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s Free Outdoor Concerts take place on Thursday evenings from 6-7:30pm throughout August. The concerts are free and open to the public and feature local bands who enrich the cultural landscape of the Cape.
