Cape Children Bring the Sounds of the Season to Life at Heritage Museums & Gardens

Local students help light up Museum’s annual Gardens Aglow exhibit

December 12, 2014 (Sandwich, MA) – Heritage Museums & Gardens will come alive during its annual Gardens Aglow festivities, courtesy of more than 100 students from throughout Cape Cod who will perform various holiday carols and spread Christmas cheer to the delight of visitors.

Performances during Gardens Aglow are scheduled as follows:

 

·         Saturday, December 13th – Sandwich High School Show Choir “Sandwich Soul”

·         Sunday, December 14th  - The Hundred Acre School

·         Friday, December 19- Monomoy Regional High School Handbell Choir

·         Saturday, December 20 – The Harper and The Minstrel

·         Sunday, December 21 – Sandwich Public Schools

·         Friday, December 26 – Emma Fahle (voice student in the Artworks program at HMG)

·         Saturday, December 27 – Sonnay Fiddlers

·         Sunday, December 29 – Cape Conservancy Youth Ballet

All groups will perform in the Auto Gallery at Heritage beginning at 6:30PM both Saturday and Sunday, December 13-14.

Sandwich Soul has participated in Gardens Aglow for the past four years in a row. The group has excelled in several ventures, including a 2013 choral competition in Agawam, MA where they won 1st place honors with a superior rating.

 

Additionally, The Shop at Heritage is getting into the holiday spirit by offering 40% off your entire purchase (minimum purchase $5, cannot be combined with other offers) from now through December 28. Gifts, ranging from books, to jewelry, to home décor, to holiday ornaments and decorations are all available for purchase. The Shop at Heritage is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 4:30- 8:30pm during Gardens Aglow, and Monday through Friday, 9am- 5pm, by appointment. About Heritage Museum & Gardens:         

Heritage Museums & Gardens, celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, is comprised of three galleries and 100 acres of gardens located in historic Sandwich, Massachusetts. It includes galleries for American Folk Art and a vintage carousel, automobiles and traveling exhibitions.

The automobile gallery includes an impressive collection of American automobiles housed within a replica of the Shaker Round Barn. The gardens feature a collection of thousands of rhododendrons, including the renowned Dexter variety, whose typical bloom time is from mid-May to mid-June. Other horticultural areas of interest include: holly, daylily, herb, hosta, and heather gardens, as well as more than a thousand varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers.

The grounds also include the Old East Mill, a windmill built in Orleans, Massachusetts in 1800, and extensively restored in 1999-2000, a labyrinth designed by Marty Cain, one of the best-known labyrinth designers in North America, Hidden Hollow™, the Hart Family Maze Garden and the Cape Cod Hydrangea Garden.
