BARNSTABLE, MA – January 5, 2015 – CCYP has announced the Mentor Monday series as part of the Career Connect Mentor Exchange. Cape & Islands Workforce Investment Board is the Presenting Sponsor for the Mentor Mondays. The topic of this month’s career development event is “Community Involvement: Helping Others and Advancing Your Career. Learn more about how to get involved in any non-profit or community service/ volunteer opportunity and hear about the benefits of career possibilities and advancement that come from community involvement.” The speakers are Wendy Northcross, CEO at Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, and David Willard, VP, Director of Community Relations at Cape Cod Five.
This month’s Mentor Monday is scheduled for January 12, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Alberto’s Restaurant in Hyannis, and Cape Cod Five is the Evening Sponsor for this event.
CCYP’s Career Connect Mentor Exchange addresses concerns of young professionals seeking the advice and guidance from experienced leaders in the Cape Cod business community.
“Mentor Monday is an exciting new program that is, in essence, speed mentoring,” said Anne Van Vleck, Executive Director, CCYP. “There’s a different topic every month and each event features dinner and a presentation, followed by small group discussions led by mentors. Mentor Monday is a pillar of the Mentor Exchange to help young professionals start or advance their careers or businesses.” It is open to all, whether or not they are enrolled in the full mentoring program.
Through mentoring, young professionals receive help to clarify goals, add skills, build networks, find resources, and add value to organizations and the community.The schedule and topics for upcoming Mentor Mondays include:
February 23, 2015 -- Entrepreneur thinking: start and run a business or think like an owner
March 16, 2015 -- The brand of you: Promoting yourself effectively
April 13, 2015 -- Managing others: what’s your best leadership style?
May 18, 2015 -- Effective network building; Connecting comfortably online and in personMentor Mondays are open to the public with a small fee of $10 for dinner. Online registration is required (there is no charge for those enrolled in the Mentor Exchange as a Mentor or Mentee). CCYP’s Mentor Exchange has been created through the generous support of The Innovation Institute of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and in partnership with the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and Listening 2 Leaders.
