CCYP Appoints New Board Vice President

Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP), a nonprofit organization that works to connect, engage, and advance Cape Cod’s young workforce and future leaders, has appointed board member Sara Kohls to the role of Board Vice President.

Ms. Kohls is a Litigation Attorney and Business Associate at the Law Offices of Bruce A. Bierhans, LLC in Hyannis. She attended Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated cum laude in 2013. Ms. Kohls is very involved in the Cape Cod community and has served in a number of volunteer leadership roles. She was the 2016-2017 Regional Director to the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division for Barnstable/Dukes/Nantucket; is the Co-Founder and Past President of the Barnstable Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division; and volunteers extensively with MSPCA Cape Cod. She was also a 2017 honoree of Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Awards.

Ms. Kohls’ volunteer service with CCYP began in 2015. She was first appointed to the organization’s Board of Directors in 2017. Since that time, she has served as Vice-Chair and Chair on the Shape Your Cape Summit Steering Committee, which plans and oversees CCYP’s annual Young Professionals Conference, the Shape Your Cape Summit. Under her leadership as Committee Chair, the 2018 Summit drew 250 attendees, and hosted a prestigious group of community leaders and speakers for over a dozen panel discussions on topics related to career development, community engagement, and quality of life for young people on Cape Cod.

“I am excited to take on this new leadership role with CCYP and look forward to continuing to work with my Board colleagues to further the ability of young professionals to connect, engage, and advance their lives on Cape Cod,” said Ms. Kohls.

“We are proud and fortunate to have Board Officers like Sara who passionately pursue the mission and work of CCYP,” added Lauren Barker, CEO of CCYP. “She is a real asset to our Board and to our organization.”

Ms. Kohls will be serving in one of two Board Vice President roles for CCYP; Stacie Peugh (President and CEO for the YMCA of Cape Cod) also serves as Vice President. Other Executive Officers include President of the Board, Ryan Castle (CEO of the Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors and MLS); Katrina Fryklund (Director of National Outreach for Latham Centers), who serves as Clerk, and Adam Lynch (Director of Finance for Convention Data Services) who serves as Treasurer. A full list and bios of all 13 CCYP Board Members can be found on the CCYP website.
