12/3 - Brewster Town Meeting
What is happening?
On December 3rd, the Town of Brewster is hosting their last Town Meeting of the 2018 calendar year and, among other warrant items, will vote on Article 12, a proposal bylaw allowing the creation of needed housing through accessory dwelling unites, otherwise known as ADUs.
The new bylaw allows for homeowners to actively utilize ADUs without developing more land, harming water quality, or changing the landscape or character of our community.
Why should young professionals attend?
With year-round rental housing becoming less and less accessible, young professionals are some of the most effected by the Cape's housing shortage. Article 12 creates the opportunity to create more housing without large scale developments.
While Article 12 will not completely alleviate the housing problem on Cape, voting 'YES' on Article 12 will prove to be a beneficial step in creating needed housing without the hurtle of developing entirely new units. Article 12 offers the Town of Brewster a low impact form of housing and, at most, could result in 20 new units per year with a 2 bedrooms per homeowner limit.
The Town Meeting will be held on Monday, December 3rd at Stony Brook Elementary School.

12/4 - Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Vote
What is happening?
On December 4th, the Towns of Dennis and Yarmouth will have the opportunity to vote on building a new 4th-7th grade regional district school.
The proposed building will be a 21st century learning facility that will replace two aging schools, Mattacheese and Wixon, that current Dennis and Yarmouth students attend. While a new school building offers a wide range of benefits, including improved safety and modern, 21st century accommodations for students, a new middle school building proves to have more financial benefits over time than renovating and modernizing the two existing middle school buildings.
Why should young professionals attend?
Young professionals with school-aged children in the Towns of Dennis and Yarmouth would be directly affected by the coming of a new regional school.
