COVID-19 Updates from CCYP

Dear CCYP Friends and Colleagues,

It's been a long, strange week for so many of us. We've had plans and events abruptly changed, lives and work disrupted, and have tried our best to navigate the day-to-day uncertainties. I hope you and your loved ones are doing well in spite of everything, and that you are practicing social distancing as much as possible to slow the spread of COVID-19 and save lives in our community.

At CCYP, we've been working - 100% from home! - to keep you apprised of our public health-related event changes and cancellations (see the latest below), share updates and resources, and continue serving Cape Cod's young workers and families in an unprecedented time of need. Above all, we want you - our members, friends, colleagues, and partners - to know that we are here to help in any way we can.

We are dedicated to finding ways to help our community stay connected, informed, and supported through this tough time. Here are a few things we've been working on:

There is now a COVID-19 Resource Page on our website, which will be updated regularly as we find out about resources and support in the community. We are also developing a calendar of Virtual Connect events and will announce more on those soon.

We will be rolling out a new social media series to spotlight some of the many businesses, nonprofits, schools, and individuals who are leveraging their talents to help our community through this crisis - there are SO many amazing examples of this, and they remind us of why Cape Cod is truly an incredible community. Send ideas our way if you know of someone who should be spotlighted! And if you want to help but aren't sure how, let us know. We can get you contacts and more info.

We will continue to monitor critical needs for young workers in our core policy areas of housing, child care, and jobs. We realize needs may have changed dramatically even just over the last week, and we stand by ready to support our partners and peers working in these key areas - and help advocate for solutions.

If there is anything else we can do to offer support or assistance, please let us know. CCYP is more than just a membership organization or a group that holds networking events - we're a community. So while the coming weeks may not look the way we originally expected them to, we are ready to navigate the uncertainty together. Let's lean on each other. Ask for help when we need it. And, above all, take care of our community and ourselves.

We look forward to connecting with you again soon!

With gratitude,

Lauren Barker, Chief Executive Officer

Program + Events Updates

Please note the following changes to CCYP's March and April calendar of events. We are continuing to monitor and heed guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and will share any additional updates or changes as soon as we have them.

Our final two Slush Month events on March 19 + March 26 have been postponed. Makeup dates are to-be-determined for these events, which were set to take place at The Pheasant and Ten Pin Eatery. With the State order banning on-premises consumption at food and drink establishments now in effect, our restaurant community needs your support. The Pheasant and Ten Pin - along with many other local establishments - are currently offering take-out options. Check our new resource page for a list of restaurants offering take-out or delivery - or consider buying a gift card by phone from your favorite businesses to use later! We have also added resources for individuals working in the restaurant industry who have lost their jobs and may be in need of unemployment or other assistance.

Our April After Hours on April 9 will be rescheduled to November. The event date, location, and other details will be released later in the year.

Big Ideas for Small Business on April 30 co-hosted with EforAll Cape Cod, has been postponed. We are currently exploring options to reschedule this event to a later date.

Cape Cod Career Expo presented in partnership with Cape Cod Community College, MassHire, and Gannett Media has been postponed to September 29, 2020.

Updates Regarding the Shape Your Cape Summit

A HUGE thank you to our Summit Steering Committee volunteers, registered attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and others who contributed to the planning and support of this year's Summit. We share in your disappointed to not be able to see the event come to life, and want to convey our deep appreciation for all of your hard work. CCYP truly could not do what we do without you!

For our registered Summit attendees, we have added a couple of options for you in terms of ticketing now that the 2020 Shape Your Cape Summit has been cancelled. Attendees who have paid for their tickets are welcome to do any of the following:

  1. TRANSFER their ticket fee to a future CCYP event, such as the 2020 Back to Business Bash (September 17) or the 2020 Community Breakfast (November 13);
  2. DONATE the ticket cost back to CCYP to help us sustain operations and programming during these tough times (we offer our thanks in advance for those considering this generous option!); or
  3. REFUND the ticket cost in full to your original payment method.

Should you have questions regarding your registration or want to move forward with an option listed above, please contact us at info@capecodyoungprofessionals.org.

COVID-19 Resources for Cape Cod's Businesses, Nonprofits, Young Adults + Families

In an effort to continue serving as a trusted resource for our members and the community at large, we have compiled a list of COVID-19 resources on our website, which are organized by category. We will be updating this page regularly so be sure to check back often and share the link with your networks.
