Weekly Dose of Community with WE CAN

Weekly Dose Of Community Quote Template
Apart for now, together always.

We're back with your Weekly Dose of Community! Our community is continuously showing up for one another and demonstrating the strength of resilience, optimism, and togetherness. As we continue to stay inside in a global act of solidarity, we are inspired by our community's demonstrations of togetherness, even when we are far apart.

This week, we're spotlighting the team at WE CAN and how they have pivoted their essential services to women on Cape Cod during this time of social distancing.

Have you missed our previous posts? Read more about the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, Fox + Crow Cafe, Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen's Alliance, and Power Yoga of Cape Cod.

Can you share a basic overview of the program or support you’ve set up in the wake of the COVID-19 public health crisis?

WE CAN provides free and confidential services to community members experiencing challenging transitions in their lives. The following services are now available via phone and video conferencing by WE CAN staff and expert volunteers:

• Legal consultations addressing various issues including family law, elder law, landlord-tenant, bankruptcy, etc,

• Work and career support including work-search, resume building, career/business related issues,

• Financial empowerment services including budgeting, debt management, and financial know-how,

• Business support for women owned businesses.

Please call 508-430-8111, email info@wecancenter.org or visit www.wecancenter.org for help or more information.

What was your goal when initiating this program?

These are core WE CAN services and expanding these services to include video and phone consultations allow us to continue to serve the community through these unexpected times of social distancing and increasing need.

What sort of response are you seeing? How has the community responded?

Our staff, volunteers and the people we serve are adapting well to new ways of communicating. We know the need will continue to grow given the challenges individuals and families are experiencing in their lives now and in the months ahead. We stand ready to help in any way that WE CAN.
