Career Connect Scholarship

What is the Career Connect Scholarship?

CCYP's Career Connect Scholarship was founded in partnership with the Cape Cod Foundation in 2012 as a way to increase career development opportunity for young working age adults on Cape Cod. The scholarship provides a boost to local workers seeking to sustain their lives and careers on Cape Cod year-round. Applicants from all industries and geographic locations within Cape Cod are welcome to apply.

As of 2020, the CCYP Career Connect Scholarship has awarded $101,168 in scholarship funding to 40 local recipients to return to school, train in a new profession, or to take a course to develop their professional life on Cape Cod.

Requirements

The CCYP Career Connect Scholarship, a fund of the Cape Cod Foundation, is for adults (ages 21+) to return to school, train in a new profession, or to take courses to develop their professional life on Cape Cod. Uses for this scholarship include, but are not limited to: tuition for college-level instruction (undergraduate or graduate), certification or advanced training programs, or professional leadership courses. Applicants may attend either full- or part-time and must have resided on Cape Cod (Barnstable County) for the past three consecutive years. Past recipients, CCYP Board members, and CCYP staff (as well as their immediate family members) are not eligible for this scholarship.

The 2022 Scholarship Application process is now closed. The annual application process is managed by The Cape Cod Foundation and details are announced in the spring of each year. The application deadline typically occurs in early April. Stay in the loop by visiting https://www.capecodfoundation..... You can also read about our past scholarship recipients.

Allison Velie

Allison Velie has lived on the Outer Cape her entire life. She recently obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from Simmons University in Boston, MA. Allison is a part of the Masters in Social Work Accelerated Program and expects to graduate in Spring 2023. Her educational goal is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has a particular interest in working with the young adult/teen population. Allison plans to return to the Cape after she obtains her Masters and work with youth on the Outer Cape. She would like to give back to the community that raised her and “be the resource” she never had growing up.

In her spare time, Allison volunteers More Than Words, a Boston-based nonprofit that serves youths ages 16-24 who are court-involved, DCF-involved, and/or homeless. She has also volunteered at Education Sparks, a Boston-based afterschool program for elementary and middle schools.

Gina Gonsalves

Gina Gonsalves moved to Cape Cod at a young age and has remained on the Upper Cape ever since. She is a 1998 graduate of Bridgewater State University and in 2020 received her Paralegal Certificate from Cape Cod Community College, with Phi Theta Kappa honors. She currently works as a Paralegal at Gargiulo/Rudnick, LLP of Mashpee, MA. Gina plans to obtain her Masters Degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Massachusetts Lowell by way of Graduate Certificates in Victim Studies and Domestic Violence Prevention. With her knowledge and empathy of how other families are suffering on Cape Cod with divorce and family conflict, Gina has established that her professional goal is to one day work in a family law firm as a Victim Advocate. In this role, she can be someone who can bridge the gap between attorney and client and help victims find important local resources and chart a course to a better future.

Most recently, Gina was a part of the Fitchburg State College Football Parents Organization and has played an active role in making sure that the football players had food and drink after their away games.
