To kick us off, describe your business and what you're bringing to the Cape community.

Fare and Just Kitchen is a 100% Plant Based personal chef service. My service includes three courses, salad/starter, entree, and dessert for a per person charge. I offer clients menu options to choose from keeping in mind any allergies or dislikes they may have. I don’t compromise on flavor or my beliefs. My business is an extension of my life with a mission to educate, satiate, and advocate through great tasting kind food.

When we speak with Cape-based entrepreneurs and small business owners, many of them are passionate about keeping their businesses on Cape. What do you find special (or challenging!) about being an entrepreneur on Cape Cod?

As a native Cape Codder I’ve witnessed a lot of change over the years. My family and I have personally experienced some of the struggles that young families have on Cape finding year round affordable housing, and a year round job that pays a living wage. It can be difficult to make it in such a seasonal place. With that being said, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I love the change in seasons, having the ocean all around me, and being a part of this close knit vibrant community. The lack of plant based options on Cape has made this a great time to start my business.

What is the most valuable thing you are taking away from the EforAll Cape Cod Business Accelerator?

I’ve been given the tools, support, camaraderie of my fellow cohorts, and found my courage. I’m no longer hiding in my kitchen, my safe space. I’m going out and showing up even when I am scared. For many years my wife and many others have told me you need to open a restaurant, your food is that good. And it’s true if it’s good people will eat it. For the first time in my life I am cooking for people I didn’t know 2 months ago. And they are loving it. I’m no longer coming up with reasons on why it won’t work, I’m putting myself out there and making it work.

At CCYP, one of our strategic priorities is to promote Cape Cod as a vibrant place for young people to live and work, year-round. What would you tell other entrepreneurs thinking about starting their businesses on Cape?

First I would recommend applying for EforAll’s accelerator program! To work hard, believe in yourself, trust your gut, and be prepared to pivot if things aren’t working. Learn from mistakes, and lean on the community around you. There are plenty of people and resources out there that want to help you succeed. Know your customer! Most importantly, get out of your comfort zone and take a risk!

And lastly, what are you working on now that the CCYP community should be on the lookout for?

I’m always experimenting in the kitchen. Creating new dishes, or improving on others. As I build my client base I will be partnering with a health care provider, and a local yoga studio. Whether you're vegan, health conscious, or vegan curious check out my pages for more info, booking a dinner, and mouth watering examples of the food I create: www.facebook.com/fareandjust #fareandjust
